I am absolutely delighted to have had my article “Planting A Paradigm Shift” published on Scribehound today. I thought I’d share a link – it’s free to read on the community articles – link HERE. Please do head over to read the article on their website – it’s my first ever published there.

Just to tell you a little bit about Scribehound. If you have any interest in gardens, design, growing, flowers, food, the environment, Scribehound is all about opinions and advice and ideas from whole group of really experienced and eminent gardeners. Every day, a new article is published on subjects the authors are passionate about. They can be controversial, perhaps unconventional but always a fresh and unique perspective to make you think.

So I’m a kind of scribe, or a hound, whichever whichever way you want to put it, as I’ve signed up. So instead of reading the news – yes the least said the better – I can read all the articles that get published everyday. The ones on the community page are free.

So if you have moment, pop over , have a read of our article, which you can read for free, say hello to me and let me know what you think of the concept of “Planting A Paradigm Shift”. I’d love to hear from you.

Writing about planting a paradigm shift is related to our Floral Creation at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show in London in a couple of weeks. I wanted our our floral creation there with our seasonal, scented sustainable flowers to give people the idea that you can actually grow your own cutting flowers for the most famous flower show in the world.

And truthfully, I still don’t quite know what exactly is going with us because I’ll be cutting the absolute best of what is there in my canalside cutting garden next week. That’s the whole idea. They’re seasonal flowers and the weather has other ideas from my flower list submitted last November.

We are beyond excited, but planting a paradigm shift is about that change, that shift , of being more sustainable.

The whole point of our floral creation is to engage and make us all think about what part we can play in sustainability, including flowers and food. The whole point of our scribehound article is the same. Planting biodynamically – by the phases of the moon – may seem a bit out there but if it works, and I think it does, then why not give it a go.

So if our creation, Moon in Bloom inspires a few people’s curiosity about biodynamic planting, or provides some encouragement about growing some of your own flowers and some of your own vegetables, we’ll be delighted.

I’m really hoping to be self sufficient in salad completely in the summer, and do you know, we grew five months worth of potatoes last year, so we’re aiming for the same this year. Loads and loads of beans, but on that, plant what you love to eat.

But the other important thing for planting a paradigm shift is that I don’t think you can exclude the wildlife from your garden. We are nature, they are nature. Chucking out or poisoning the snails. I might as well just starve or poison my song thrush. And of course, I never ever want to do that.

So a paradigm shift is about that consideration of creating your own wellbeing, your own contribution to shift the needle on climate change, you own wildlife sanctuary – not tigers but still terribly important. I hope you find your own enchantment again gardening. Paradigm shift advocates change in our gardens. So I’d love you to have a read.
